Do I really love chalk paint?

Do I really love chalk paint?

Since I applied, interviewed and was offered a Stockist position with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint I have been asked if I really love chalk paint?

Love is a strong word. I love my kids (I don't like them all the time though), and my husband (same rule applies with liking him as the kids). I love Annie (if you don't know who she is count yourself lucky that we must not be friends on FB because I have plastered her little Siamese face everywhere), I love the other cats, bunny and dogs. I also love Patti because she keeps me on top of my book work or is trying to I should say. I love Marilyn and Joanie because they are wonderful and heck I couldn't do all of this without them. And yes, I love Chalk Paint!

I am probably one of the laziest people out there. Well not really. But I truly don't have time to stand around. Starting any project over the last couple of years has been hard. I put things on the back burner and came to terms with the fact that running a business and having young children just wouldn't allow me the time to do those extra things.

Well along came Annie Sloan! Hello! I must thank my  friend and graphic design rep Tori for the introduction. Tori told me about this awesome chalk paint and workshops she had taken in Bath, Ontario. It was easy and the results unbelievable. Perfect for someone like me. I made the trek out to Elizabeth's with my husband, credit card in hand. I knew that my purchase was an investment and I wasn't going all that way without getting everything I needed. I came home and I didn't paint. I know, I know. I had the stuff but part of me still didn't believe it.

Push came to shove and we needed a huge long table for the store. Ugh, it was ugly but the bone structure fantastic. I started on a Friday night and I was moving that table into the store on Sunday morning. AMAZED!

Even today when I paint I can't believe just how quick it all is. The chalk paint dries faster then you believe. You can actually watch paint dry! The wax is easy to put on and distressing and dark waxing a dream. I can list off all of the wonderful things that Annie herself does for small businesses and communities but I can tell you the one thing that no one mentions. She understands the time restraints of a working mother and wife. Annie needed a paint that was eco friendly, dried quickly and was durable. This was 25 years ago when her boys were small. To think it almost took me that long to discover it!

Every time someone buys paint for the first time I tell them my story and each time they come back astonished at how easy it was! Come and see for yourself. Take a workshop. If you don't have time, jump right in like I did. Trust me, you won't be unhappy with what you find and I guarantee you will fall in love too! Until next time, N

Small Town, Big Hearts
Small Town, Big Hearts

Small town living isn't for everyone. Pros and cons come with living it, same as big cities. One thing you don't get too often in the big city though is getting to know your neighbor or community. You might get a snippet, but you don't get to know everything.
